I really recommend AnxietyUK to everyone- they also have fantastic group resources and I think it's really really helpful, especially if you can't afford private therapy and the wait lists in your area are too long. It includes helpful information on medications and shows readers how they can calm their impulses through techniques drawn from acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy. Overall this book is really informative, but unfortunately the newest version is still outdated (2010).

This book, written by experts, explains OCD in its many forms in simple terms and the practical steps in how to overcome it.AnxietyUK has been so helpful to me - I joined to access affordable therapy, though I was worried there might be a long wait list. Whether a condition is mild or severe, this definitive resource will help the sufferer reclaim his or her life and keep OCD away for good. It is helpful to complete this questionnaire once now (before you start to overcome OCD) and again when you finish working through all of the chapters in Part B of this book. Whether one is compelled to clean more and more thoroughly, is plagued by "bad" thoughts, or feels the need to keep checking if they've turned off appliances, obsessive worries can become a drain on daily life--but this guide offers hope for sufferers. This book has already changed our lives and I haven’t even started the accommodations mapping and reduction.

Personally I feel Anxiety UK offers a fantastic service which fills that much needed gap between being referred to NHS and your actual appointment time which nowadays due to Covid can be up to a year in waiting time. Whether you are compelled to wash your hands more and more thoroughly or feel the need to keep checking that you’ve turned off appliances, obsessive worries can be a drain on daily life. it makes OCD recovery more accessible and details a lot of concrete steps that (in conjunction with therapy/psychology/psychiatry/meds etc.I haven't done all of them myself, but the exercises that I did complete helped me bounce back from a particularly nasty bout of health anxiety last Christmas, so I remain eternally grateful to this book.
