Device Overview The buttons on the eTrex 32x are dead simple and follow the same layout as most Garmin GPS units.

If the eTrex 32x looks similar to the old eTrex 30 that came out in 2011, it's because the case is the same (as far as I can tell). Some hikers and bikepackers may be wondering, with all the good smartphone apps out there these days, why even bother with a dedicated GPS navigation device? I keep coming back to these particular units because they’re well made, simple but functional, reliable in the rain and affordable. The eTrex 32x lets you see an elevation profile of your track or route and your current position on it, while the 22x does neither. This unit has Topoactive mapping on the internal memory and so this option comes as standard with any option you purchase.

If you can afford the 22x/32x and just want a reliable GPS for the longer term, it's worth getting it. It’s a big relief to slap the eTrex on my handlebars and not worry about it; I generally have enough to worry about in those conditions already! Hitting the back button until it can't go anymore brings you to the main menu screen shown on the image above. eTrex 22x offers ease-of-use, durability and affordability that the eTrex handheld GPS series is known for — along with preloaded TopoActive maps.

You bikepack or backpack in challenging conditions (wet, cold) and efficiency is important to you, AND you’re on a tight budget. With a microSD card slot and expanded 8 GB of internal memory, you can easily download additional maps for wherever the adventure takes you. Coverage for: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia (Kaliningrad only), San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the Vatican City. The barometric altimeter will plot your attitude based on barometric pressure (after you calibrate it). As you can see, a dedicated GPS device like the Garmin eTrex is certainly useful under the right conditions.

With an array of compatible mounts, eTrex is designed as a handheld — or for use on ATVs or bicycles, in boats or on foot. Route: The eTrex can navigate a pre-loaded route from a GPX file, and this is how I generally use it. At this product page we state compatibility with specific versions of current internet connection devices, for example: PC, laptop, MAC, smartphone etc.

The gloves have a heavy split leather palm, thumb and knuckle guard and cotton backed with elastic expander with double fabric cuff. Routes are limited to 250 points and tracks are limited to 10,000, so a long or detailed route often needs to be compressed or split into sections.
