After all, the victim was not universally popular in the small village where he lived, and it quickly transpires that he was having an affair. in trouble, disappears and takes with him a large part of Hillary's past, If you have read the previous books you will know what I mean! Hillary is a dedicated DI and is still dealing with the fallout from a bad marriage to a bent copper who died leaving Hillary with his mess to clear up. Hillary continues to fight crime while dealing with her rag-bag team and senior officers who may, or may not, be on her side. I am really hoping to read or rather listen to more from this author as this audiobook definitely entertained and has me intrigued to listen to more.

Also the dognappers marking houses where they planned to strike didn’t seem a mystery at all—fairly clear from the start. Murder in the Village is the first instalment in the Belinda Penshurst Mystery series set in the small, pristine village of Little Challham in Kent. A would-be politician is found battered to death in the kitchen of his expensive home in a lovely Oxfordshire village. While Hillary wonders how her boss has managed to get such a tip off so soon after taking up his post in Oxford, she’s part of the team that carries out the raid.If I were to compare my reading to a Sunday lunch, Faith Martin's books are the potatoes - a safe bet and, quite often, the best bit of the meal in a very understated way. She has a finger in many pies but also has to deal with a brother, Marcus, who seems to be making his cash in less than honorable ways. Clear diction but considering so many male characters the narrators voice seemed almost the same for the narration plus the female characters and also the male ones. The author was trying to establish a romantic relationship between our two protagonists, but it missed the mark. Whilst I have enjoyed the previous three books in the series, I felt there was a greater maturity to this one that indicates Faith Martin's growing confidence in her characters and their stories.

It’s an elaborate operation involving two police forces; Hillary is involved as is her boss, her team, and several other police officers from their office.is the first book in this rule-breaking mystery series set in Aix-en-Provence--guaranteed to give you the shivers as well as a craving for profiteroles!

The plot is relatively simple, two amateurs running around asking questions to find a murderer and break up a dog napping ring. Will Mike and Sarah and their group make it to the castle they've heard about and believe to be their only chance at safety?DI Greene enjoys a close working relationship and friendship with her immediate superior DCI Phillip Mallow, also known as ‘Mellow Mallow’. Mont St-Michel is the setting for more than just murder when Laurent and Maggie visit for a marital counseling weekend during a storm-of-the-century. MURDER IN A SOMERSET VILLAGE is the second book in a series of humorous mysteries set in the West Country. When Maggie and Laurent take a much needed vacation in Saint-Tropez they get much more than they bargained for as Laurent's criminal past reappears to remind them that past deeds are never forgotten for long. Together with Flora, his fellow sleuth, they pack their suitcases, dreaming of fragrant lavender fields and freshly baked pain au chocolat.
