It's more gritty and the storyline more believable although I felt that you had to suspend belief in the end bit.

No one gets this big without amazing natural storytelling talent - which is what Jim has, in spades. Following the cliffhanger that was met with mixed receptions at the end of Cross My Heart Alex Cross’s life is collapsing around him. This has led to him forming a partnership with the National Literacy Trust, an independent, UK-based charity that changes lives through literacy. It has depth, as does our protagonist, allowing the reader to see just how complex and exciting this adventure can be. Cross's ingenious pursuit of the killer produces a suspect: a British diplomat named Geoffrey Shafer. Behind all the noise and the numbers, we shouldn't forget that no one gets this big without amazing natural storytelling talent - which is what Jim has, in spades. Kill Alex Cross is fast, exciting, and tightly wound, full of "fast-and-furious action" ( Washington Post). Crazy madman takes Alex's family and threatens them unless Alex comes to him so crazy person can kill him.

Terrified and desperate, Cross must give this mad man what he wants if he has any chance of saving the most important people in his life. The picture becomes clearer with each new chapter, focusing on plot of the villain to wreak a final storm on Alex Cross while Alex is working on his own plan to unleash a befitting retribution. The murder of a glamorous DC socialite becomes Alex Cross’s deadliest case since Along Came a Spider. The kidnapper, a known mass murderer and serial killer named Thierry Mulch, is living under a false identity, stalking and infiltrating the home and life of Cross. You can state your good intentions, you can imagine the life you want, but you can’t negotiate with Him. One man knows this deeply, and uses Alex's strength as a weapon against him in the most unsettling and unexpected novel of James Patterson's career. I was very disappointed with the ending is "Cross My Heart",but "Hope To Die" is a 5 star book from start to finish. Next, the elusive gunman begins picking off other crooked politicians, sparking a blaze of theories: is the marksman a hero or a vigilante? Between John Sampson, his FBI friends, his tenacity and Ava's creativity, Alex is able to discover the identity of the man torturing him.

Alex Cross will need to use all his skills as a doctor, a detective, and a family man to prevent that resistance from turning lethal . I don’t tend to read any of the Paterson/any other novelist co-authored books as they don’t appeal to me as much and I don’t hear as much positive feedback. But even with everything on the line, Cross will do whatever it takes to stop a dangerous criminal . To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. To be fair, there are more than a few "holes" in the story - from lapses in police procedure to how the killer manages to accomplish everything given time and circumstances to wasting too much space on repetition.Cross is being stalked and mentally tortured by someone who clearly has a psychotic streak; early on, as two mutilated bodies turn up that are presumed to be Cross's wife Bree and his son Damion, Cross is so emotionally devastated that he's barely able to function. Driven by feelings of hatred and revenge, Mulch is threatening to kill them all, and break Cross for ever. When he arrives in Eudora, Mississippi, Ben meets the wise Abraham Cross and his beautiful granddaughter, Moody. The shocking double homicide is blazed across the internet, TV, newspapers—and across Alex Cross's mind.

But the pictures may have been doctored, so with a few close allies, Alex is going to keep his hopes up, and try to find the madman that is haunting his every step. Cross's family-his loving wife Bree, the wise and lively Nana Mama, and his precious children-have been ripped away.As Bree scrambles to find her footing and close two high-profile cases, new violence stuns the capital. While Cross goes outside his normal practice and barters with the killer, the reader sees the true desperation in Cross's life. Alex soon realizes he may have much to answer for, as "M" lures the detective out of the capital to the sites of multiple homicides, all marked with distressingly familiar details -- details that conjure up decades-old cases. Nana Mama, Bree, and his three children have been kidnapped, and he has been given photos showing they were executed.
