The Hifold feels much flimsier and less soft than a non-travel high-back booster, but my daughter didn’t complain about the comfort at all. The mifold Original seat uses a unique EVA DenseFoam (Ethylene-vinyl acetate) to provide constant support at pressure points. The mifold is hard to use and keep positioned correctly, with the lap belt retainers sliding in and out when you don't want them to.

When folded it’s only slightly bigger than a Nintendo Switch, barely weighs more than a bottle of water and is easy to pop in your luggage or even hand bag when out and about on your holiday.Far smaller than a regular booster, rather than raising a child up, the Mifold booster aims to properly align and fit both a car’s lap belt and shoulder belt so that they are safe and secure for children ages 4 and older, 40 pounds to 100 pounds, and 40 inches to 57 inches tall. As a Group 2/3 car seat, it claims to provide the safety of a traditional booster cushion while its compact design is easily foldable. The mifold Comfort car seats not only grow with your child but also adjust to your child’s unique size and shape. However, the Mifold boosters are approved for use in every country in the world except for Australia and Taiwan.

It follows the original MiFold, a travel booster which which was described as ‘the world’s most compact car seat’. She was very uneasy with using the Mifold for our rather dainty six-(and-a-half)year-old daughter, as it simply didn’t feel or look safe or supportive enough. The mifold adjusts to fit the lap belt and shoulder strap correctly on your child and offers the right amount of restraint in case of impact. Once they had outgrown it I then went on to be extremely selective when it came to the next stage up. Whilst the boys are old enough to just have a booster seat (such as the mifold Comfort that we use for backpacking), we prefer a car seat with a head rest as the passenger seat they sit on doesn’t have one.We therefore always encourage caregivers to use the most protective car seat available that is suitable to the child, the circumstances and the vehicle being used. Lots of my friends moved their children up one as soon as they reached the minimum weight but while mine were still small enough and under the maximum weight I wanted them in that rear facing seat as long as they could. Our reviews and articles are written by parents who are professional journalists, and we also include feedback from our parent community and industry experts. Top designers, engineers and industry experts have created the mifold, the most advanced car seat ever invented, to not only be mighty strong, but to also offer ultimate comfort.

I was pretty surprised at how small and compact these seats were so my first question as a parent was to make sure that they follow the safety level of booster seats and whether they can be used on travel abroad. It’s just as safe as regular booster seats and meets the highest legal standards for child restraint systems and is approved by the European regulation R44. Instead of lifting the child up, mifold does the opposite and holds the seatbelt down to fit the child. Overall this would be perfect for traveling, car rentals, if you have multiple kids in carseats 3 in a row, carpooling, or for grandparents house. The mifold is a variation of the traditional booster seat that folds up very small and is easy to transport for travel or move for carpooling. The fact that the seat is so adjustable, makes it slightly more of a hassle to quickly change between kids. In terms of safety, I’m no engineer and not qualified to judge car seats and I don’t attempt to do that in this Mifold booster seat review. The mifold shoulder belt positioning strap and clip is attached to the back of the mifold seat and goes behind the child’s back.

And for those parents that ideally need to fit three car seats along the back of the car, the Hifold is a narrow car seat designed to fit 3-in-a-row in the majority of cars. At first I wasn’t too sure about the product as I thought it can’t be safe as it was so small and I thought the seat was too hard and would be uncomfortable however after my first time using the product I could see how amazing and easy it was to use and that my little boy was safe and the belt was sitting correctly on him. In rotas for the school run, with grandparents or other relatives, in taxis, on holiday, in rental cars and so on. The fact that it has guides for both the lap and shoulder belts as well as headrest protection makes me much happier and more confident to use this booster for my younger child. The simple fact is that today, after decades of improvements in the rate of adoption of child restraints, there are still many journeys where children do not have an appropriate restraint (estimated at 20% of all journeys).Hunter filed a US patent for the “Safety Seat” … a box that lifted up a child and held a lap belt in place across the bones of the child’s hips.
