Description

Lustre dust produces a subtle colour with metallic, pearl or glitter like sheen finish. Great for brushing and dusting to create a lustre finish. Petal Dust are edible dust that creates a deep hue with a matte finish. Also works as a light powdered food colouring when mixing with fondant or paste. High-Quality: Our luster dust is made from premium ingredients that are designed to provide a lustrous, metallic gold finish to your baked goods. It is also long-lasting, ensuring that your baked goods look beautiful for an extended period. This pre-mixed edible paint actually gave a similar effect to the vodka, it does stay wet for a little longer and felt slightly waxy when it was dry but gave a really pretty finish with alot of shine. I think this would also make it really easy if you just wanted to add small amounts of gold as its already pre-mixed. On large areas you may need 2 coats like the vodka. What should I use to make metallic edible paint? The colour was a little lighter and it would definitely need a few coats. Also it dried without that dust finish which meant you couldn’t buff out any of the brush marks, so it did look a little more streaky than some of the others, but with a few coats this would not be as noticeable.

At Bakell, we are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality products available. Our Super Gold Edible Food Grade Luster Dust 4g is a product that we are proud to offer. We believe that our luster dust stands out from the competition due to its superior quality, ease of use, and versatility. It is a product that is designed to help you create stunning baked goods that will impress your customers, friends, and family. As an experiment, I even tried edible food paint on French macarons. These splatter painted French macarons turned out really well! It’s best to use a fine paintbrush as adding too much paint makes the crust start to erode. Frequently Asked Questions about Edible Food Paint For each of the dusts, I mixed a small amount with water and a small amount with 190 proof Everclear. The Everclear dots are...across the board...SIGNIFICANTLY shinier. However...the gold tends to rub off of those icing dots, while the gold that was mixed with water stays on the icing perfectly. Our Super Gold Edible Food Grade Luster Dust 4g is incredibly easy to use. Simply apply it to your baked goods using a soft-bristled brush or spray it with a food-grade airbrush. The luster dust can be applied directly to your baked goods or mixed with clear alcohol or extract to create a paint-like consistency.

Bakell® Luster Dusts are edible, food grade and perfect for the Confectionery Sugar craft artist! Sparkle dust produces effects similar to luster dust, imparting color and shine, but the sparkle dust grains are larger than the fine powder of the luster dust. The vodka that I was using was a small bottle from the local supermarket by Absolute Vodka. On the front of the bottle it has 40% alcohol volume.

Moreover, you can use edible luster dust to achieve your metallic gold icing. Bear in mind that edible luster dust comes in a great range of colors and shades of gold. Before your airbrush royal icing, it’s important to ensure it’s completely dry. For royal icing to dry, it usually takes around an hour or two. You’ll know your royal icing is dry because it won’t look as shiny or glossy anymore, and also won’t smudge if you touch it gently. Airbrushing is great for enhancing royal icing and making it shiny. How Much Food Coloring Do I Add to the Frosting? You must first start by choosing yellow food coloring or yellow icing. Whichever tone you choose will affect the result of your gold icing. It’s also worth mentioning that color frosting usually darkens in color after a few hours, so always opt for lighter than you think you need. Use just a few drops of vodka so the paint will be very concentrated. If you use too much, it will separate from the vodka. Stir it frequently, and take the paint that is closest to the bowl edge so you can press the brush up the side of the bowl and squeeze out some of the liquid.

Then, add more alcohol to the edible luster. Doing this maintains the consistency of the paint as the alcohol tends to evaporate.

Non-toxic: Contains non-harmful and/ or non-toxic ingredients but is not FDA compliant (same as non-edible) Out of everything I tried these 6 options gave the best finish. I had read some people used vegetable oil, and I did test this out, but I found anything oil based didn’t dry. That oil always remained slightly wet and I like to know the paint has completely dried so you don’t get any finger marks.I also tried cocoa butter but found with lustre dust the finish was extremely waxy and very streaky. These are best with matt edible tints. This edible food paint will work to color large sections of fruit but won’t work for detailed work. The colors will also change depending on the color of the fruit.

One thing that was important was to find options that didn’t contain alcohol, as I had been asked quite a few times for suggestions. Lemon juice worked really well. It actually gave a similar finish to vodka, but with a small amount less shine.
