Mathers, S. L. MacGregor (2004). The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage. Book Tree. ISBN 1-58509-252-5. But Jesus makes the existence and function of guardian angels explicit when he says, "See that you despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you, that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 18:10). You’ll want to read the original text of the book in its entirety, particularly the sections on what should be considered before undertaking the process, and the ritual specifications for building an altar and other ceremonial objects. First Phase

In Scripture, three angels appear by name. Their names reveal God’s plan for those who experience their protection. Gabriel means “God is my might or strength” (Dn 8 and 9; Lk 1); Raphael means “God heals” (throughout the Book of Tobit); Michael means “Who is like God.” (Dn 10 and 12; Jude; Rv 12) While not personal guardian angels, these three archangels are powerful intercessors for all people before God. They can help you know the Father better. They can help you respond to the Father’s messages. Then your “hey” will be like Gabriel’s “Hail!” (Lk 1:28), your “sorry” will remind you of Raphael, “God heals,” and your “Who is this?” will sound like Michael, “Who is like God?” It should never be forgotten for a single moment that the central and essential work of the Magician is the attainment of the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel. Once he has achieved this he must of course be left entirely in the hands of that Angel, who can be invariably and inevitably relied upon to lead him to the further great step—crossing of the Abyss and the attainment of the grade of Master of the Temple. [39] This article aims to shed some light on the origins of the "Liber Samekh" ritual published by Aleister Crowley, its relevance to the attainment of the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel, and the ideas and techniques we can draw from it to achieve this goal. Throughout the history of human salvation that Scripture records, God also entrusts his messages to humanity to special messengers. We know them as the angels, an English translation of the Hebrew word for “messengers” ( mal’akim ). The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that the angels are “purely spiritual creatures” with “intelligence and will” who surpass “in perfection all visible creatures, as the splendor of their glory bears witness.” (330) The name “angel,” however, tells us less about what these spiritual beings are, and more about what they do. Throughout Scripture, angels communicate various messages. God entrusted the message of utmost importance — the message about Jesus’s incarnation and humanity’s redemption — to an archangel, Gabriel, who delivered this good news to the Virgin Mary. (Lk 1:26-38)However, considering this whole question of Osiris as "ancient aeon", Crowley recommends substituting this name of "Asar Un-Nefer" for that of "Ra-Hoor-Khuit", or for the name of the Angel himself if he communicates it to the adept.

The path of attainment is largely defined by the Tree of Life. The aspirant begins in Malkuth, which is the everyday material world of phenomena, with the ultimate goal being at Kether, the sphere of Unity with the All. Through various exercises and practices, the aspirant attains certain spiritual and mental states that are characterized by the various sephiroth that ascend the Tree. Crowley considered a deep understanding of the Qabalah to be essential to the Thelemite. [c] [d] The practice of the Middle Pillar is especially important. [7]After all, the LIRP is a Golden Dawn ritual in which the elemental influences are balanced by tracing the pentagrams, until the magician can claim that his body is the five-pointed star. With the four elements balanced and the fifth element - the spirit - at the top point, the magician's Temple is ready for the six-pointed star on his chest. At first glance, this would be the part of the ritual that most departs from the Greek classic. Its essence is that of an invocation of each of the four elements, not unlike a Lesser Ritual of Invocation of the Pentagram. Prayers and ritual cleansing continue in morning and night, with the addition of a noon prayer session. All business operations should be ceased except those of charity. Perfume should be kept upon the altar. All free time should be dedicated to meditation, or the studying of sacred texts. All of society, except members of the household, should be shunned during this period. Once the elements have been invoked, it is time to invoke the Spirit. The magician will declare his Aspiration. It is in the absolute intensity of this Aspiration that the key to the success of the ritual lies.

Guardian angels were often considered to be matched by a personal demon who countered the angel's efforts, especially in popular medieval drama such as morality plays like the 15th-century The Castle of Perseverance. In Christopher Marlowe's play The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus, c. 1592, Faustus has a "Good Angel" and "Bad Angel" who offer competing advice (Act 2, scene 1, etc.). [43]The Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer found in Martin Luther's Small Catechism include the supplication "Let your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me". [29] Donald Schneider, a Lutheran priest, states that Martin Luther may have based these prayers on Psalm 91, which includes a verse stating “For [God] will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone”. [30] [ bettersourceneeded] Methodist Church [ edit ]

On October 2, 1795, Pius VI granted a partial indulgence every time, with a contrite heart and devotion, any of the faithful say the Guardian Angel prayer. The prayer reads, "Angel of God, my guardian dear, To whom his love commits me here, Ever this day be at my side, To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen." Pius VI also granted a plenary indulgence on the feast of the Holy Guardian Angels (Oct. 2) to those who have said the prayer morning and evening throughout the year, provided they meet the other usual requirements of receiving a plenary indulgence (truly penitent confession and reception of the Eucharist, visiting a church or oratory, and praying for the Sovereign Pontiff). On June 11, 1796, Pope Pius VI granted another plenary indulgence to those who have frequently said this prayer at the hour of their death, provided they have the required dispositions. Pope Pius VII confirmed these indulgences of his predecessor again on May 15, 1821, and additionally granted a plenary indulgence once a month, on any day of the month, to those who have prayed the Guardian Angel prayer every day for a month, under the same aforementioned requirements to receive a plenary indulgence. [9] Following the abrogation of these indulgences, a partial indulgence is granted in the 1968 Enchiridion. [10] At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them, and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me. See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.” There are several ways to awake the Kundalini. Kenneth Grant comments in "Aleister Crowley and the Hidden God" that in Crowley's case it would have been sex coupled with astral work ("Divine Monkey Formula"). But also, as I have indicated above, Crowley explicitly refers to the use of entheogens to raise the Fire Serpent. In my experience, the work of raising the Kundalini is facilitated in the early stages by substances such as psilocybin.

In the first two sections of the ritual, a preliminary invocation is made to the Holy Guardian Angel, highlighting some of its characteristics. It is a "rehearsal" of what is to follow. It's a Wonderful Life (1946) - Synopsis". Turner Classic Movies. Archived from the original on 26 January 2021. God entrusts messages for humanity to angels, but God also entrusts humanity itself to them. The angels guard God’s messages, faithfully delivering them to men and women, and the angels faithfully guard men and women too. Speaking about the most innocent among us, Christ instructs us: “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.” (Mt 18:10) Inspired by Jesus’ words about angels, the catechism teaches that, “From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession.” (336) Scripture speaks about angels guarding individuals like Sarah and Tobiah (Tb 3:17; 5:4-10; 12:12-14), God’s chosen people Israel (Ex 23:20; Ps 34:8), and even nations. (Dt 32:8; Dn 10:9-12)
