As some of you may already know, Samsung uses two different chips in their Galaxy S phones depending on the market and the UK is getting the other new and improved chip Exynos 2100 instead of the coveted Snapdragon 888. They are both designed by Samsung, so there isn't a compromise here. The Exynos chip is significantly improved and offers pretty much the same specs as the Snapdragon 888, so the performance should be highly satisfying for the S21 users. But only time will tell if there is any noticeable difference between them or not. Massively Improved Cameras and Decent Battery

Battery: 4500mAh; Fast charging 25W, 50% in 30 min (advertised), Fast wireless charging 15W, Reverse wireless charging, USB Power Delivery 3.0. Battery Capacity (Typical) : Typical value is the estimated average value considering the deviation in battery capacity among battery samples tested under IEC61960 standard. Rated (minimum) capacity is 4,370mAh. Actual battery life may vary depending on network environment, usage patterns and other factors. The " Fan Edition" branding is something the "marketing geniuses" at the South Korean tech giant have been pushing lately, at least for the entry-level versions of their flagships. These models are usually slightly less powerful and sophisticated to offer a more frugal alternative. If you're confused about the timing, you're certainly not alone - this model came out nearly a year after the initial Galaxy S21 line up and even the Galaxy S22 phones got released before this one did. Display: Can't Go Wrong With Samsung Samsung first introduced the ‘FE’ (or Fan Edition) branding a few years ago to signify a pared-down version of one of its flagship devices. I was a huge fan of the Galaxy S20 FE, which was, in many ways, an easier recommendation than the regular S20 as a result of its slightly larger display and superior Snapdragon chipset. Not to mention the cheaper price. What’s more, many mid-range phones like the Realme GT, Moto G200, Pixel 5 and iPhone SE (2020) cost a lot less, and most come with comparable specs that make them more tempting mobiles.

Though some of the specs are different, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE’s camera performance is largely comparable to that of the S21 and S21 Plus. We would even say there are far more similarities than there are differences. Elsewhere, there’s a 32-megapixel front camera. Selfies are excellent here, as long as you select the ‘Natural’ mode. The other option, ‘Bright’, ramps up the brightness a little too much and adds an odd sheen to everything. An adaptive display might have helped stretch out the cell further, but that’s no guarantee. You can always employ one of the battery-saving modes to eke out more life, or manually drop the screen down to 60Hz. Ditching the 120Hz refresh rate resulted in roughly an extra hour of use. Chipset: Qualcomm SM8350 Snapdragon 888 5G (5 nm) - Version 1, Exynos 2100 (5 nm) - Version 2: Octa-core (1x2.84 GHz Kryo 680 & 3x2.42 GHz Kryo 680 & 4x1.80 GHz Kryo 680) - Version 1, Octa-core (1x2.9 GHz Cortex-X1 & 3x2.80 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4x2.2 GHz Cortex-A55) - Version 2; Adreno 660 - Version 1, Mali-G78 MP14 - Version 2. This is very much a typical Samsung camera, whose pictures will be appreciated by those wanting that Samsung Look. By that I mean vivid colours (greens and reds, in particular, are very saturated) and sharp details that can, at times, look a little overprocessed. You’ll notice this when shooting landscapes, where minor details can often stand out too much. The main snapper here is a 12MP main camera and that, as well as the 12MP ultrawide, are both holdovers from the S21. But while the S21 also has a 64MP telephoto camera, the S21 FE only has an 8MP one. Finally, let's talk about the camera department. It looks like a copy-paste from the Galaxy S20 FE - a 12MP primary, another 12MP camera for ultrawide photos, and an 8MP tele for 3x optical zoom. The selfie imager is likely the same, too, a 32MP one. Samsung is not advertising the hardware as more capable, but it brags with better processing and cool features like Object Eraser - all possible thanks to the new chipset.
