The 48-inch C3 isn’t markedly different to the C2 it replaces (which is just about still available for roughly 10 per cent less), and at its launch price, that might have been a problem. However, some months and several discounts into its life, the OLED48C3 looks like excellent value and is notably short of serious challengers. The system includes voice search, thanks to a built-in microphone, which makes finding content easier, and there’s Google Assistant. This turns the EQ3 into a fully-functioning smart assistant, with a degree of hands-free control, plus there’s support for Chromecast. There’s also a built-in media player with support for all the main file formats via USB or your home network. As many will already be well aware, the C3 is the latest in LG’s long-running and stonkingly popular C-series ofOLED TVs. That popularity is well-earned: LG’s C-series has been a near-perfect intersection of performance, features and price for years, and not just compared with other LG OLEDs, but with TVs in general. At this stage, it’s a bit of a living legend.Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 27th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) If you're too close to a TV, no matter how high-quality the image, it's going to look blown out and poor. Too far, and you may as well watch Netflix on your phone. The latest model is no different. To put it plainly, there’s no better-specified TV available at this size. While neither MLAnor QD-OLEDtechnology has made it below 55 inches yet, the C3 uses the best 48-inch OLED panel currently available from sister company LG Display, and it's crisp and well-defined, producing an image that’s really solid and has a three-dimensional feel. In fact, the increased pixel density of having a 4K resolution squeezed into a 48-inch space means this smaller C3 looks significantly sharper than its 65-inch C3 sibling. The key TV battleground right now is gaming specs, and the 48-inch C3 very much has the high ground here too. Some models also offer additional features, such as Bluetooth connectivity for wireless audio connections, and smartphone and tablet connections. These terms refer to the number of pixels that make up the image on the screen. So, 4K screens offer four times more pixels than HD screens, with 8.3 million pixels working across the screen. This makes for more detailed and accurate images. Here's a list of the most common ones when looking for the best 50-inch smart TVs.

This question is pretty much moot now, as the vast majority of TVs are now 4K. It's actually rather hard to find Full HD (1080p) models, even at sizes 50-inches and smaller.Bluetooth is a great feature for a smart TV, as it allows you to connect wireless audio devices; like speakers, headphones, hearing aids, or other peripheral devices like keyboards. Can I pair my phone to my smart TV?

When it comes to picture technology, almost all models at this size are now 4K, and there's no need to look for a Full HD model, because these 4K TVs are already affordable. Choosing a 50-inch TV offers several benefits based on personal preferences and specific needs. Firstly, the screen size of a 50-inch TV is larger compared to smaller options, providing a more immersive viewing experience. This larger display allows for a greater level of detail and visual impact, enhancing your enjoyment of movies, TV shows, and sports. The What Hi-Fi? team has more than 100 years experience of reviewing, testing and writing about consumer electronics. Some of the best 50-inch smart TVs improve your viewing experience in ways that couldn’t have been predicted a few years ago. Upgrading to one of the best TVs that also supports 4K resolution is a real game-changer; whether you're a sports fan or gamer, movie watcher or streaming binger. But, did you know most TV shows, movies, games and streaming services are optimized for larger screen sizes?

Smart TVs of all sizes will transform your viewing experience, but what size is right for you will depend on your living space. A 50-inch TV ( wall-mounted or not) will look best from a distance of around 2.5 – 3.5 metres. Any closer and you risk the image looking pixelated, further away and you’ll miss the details. Don’t worry if this means you have to consider a more compact 32-inch TV or larger 65-inch screen option – we’ve rounded up the best of those for you elsewhere. HDR10+ is a rival format to Dolby Vision. Created by Samsung, it also uses dynamic metadata but, whereas Dolby Vision is licensed, HDR10+ is a free, open format that any company can deploy as it sees fit. All four HDMI 2.1 inputs support 4K at 60Hz, HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision, ALLM and CEC. One of the HDMI inputs also supports eARC (enhanced audio return channel). However, this TV doesn’t support 4K at 120Hz, VRR or HDR10+. The EQ3 runs the Android 11 operating system and supports the HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG High Dynamic Range formats. It sports a full aluminium frameless design, includes a Harman Kardon sound system and there’s support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, with the latter being something of a rarity on a TV.The answer to this question is very much a decision arrived at after deliberation between your available space, budget and requirements. However, it tends to be sensible to have the smaller TVs in smaller rooms, and larger ones in the biggest rooms. Costco UK's other Sharp TV looks a little more promising. At the other end of the size scale, the Sharp LC-24DHG6131 TV/DVD player combo appears a good match for the set above at Currys but at a more favourable price. Verdict This is an important app for anyone who loves any one of the plethoras of YouTube personalities, gamers or influencers. Much like the smartphone app, this smart TV app will allow unlimited and free access to countless hours of independent entertainment. YouTube does offer a subscription service, known as YouTube Premium, but this doesn’t restrict free access to a vast selection of content. Spotify
